Minutes of the October 8, 1997 IAAC meeting


1.  The meeting came to order at 4:00 PM.  Committee Members
    attending were Dean Wisner, Athletic Director Gregory, Pro-
    fessors Rebman, Shub and Sondrol, and Ms. Foltz.
2.  Coach Dietz gave an entertaining and informative presentation
    on the men's soccer program.  He explained that the ambitious
    schedule, the high ranking of the conference opponents, the
    outstanding academics and the growing campus are all factors
    that help him recruit.

    Coach Egan gave a presentation on the women's volleyball
    team.  The team is doing quite well, having eclipsed last
    years number of wins and statistics by mid season.  He is
    hearing good things about the team from colleagues and offi-
    cials.  He reported that he is yielding the gymnasium to an
    Engineering open house and has scheduled that game at a local
    high school.  By making the match a high school awareness and
    visit day, he is turning this into a win win event.
3.  Moved by Mr. Gregory, seconded by Dean Wisner that the
    minutes of the prior meeting be approved.  Motion passed by
    voice vote.
4.  Athletic Director Gregory passed out copies of his upcoming
    presentation to the regents.
5.  FAR Shub reported that he was elected to the RMAC FAR's exe-
    cutive committee.  Shub also reported that he was named to a
    national FAR committee and thanked the members of the commit-
    tee who helped secure travel funding. Shub also noted the
    addition of a scores and schedules web page.  In response to
    a question, he will look into how one finds the athletics
    page.
