Minutes of the August 30, 2000 IAAC meeting



1.  The meeting came to order at 2:05 PM.  Committee Members
    attending were Dean Wisner, Academic Coordinator Foltz,
    Faculty representatives Byerley, Daly, and Shub, Staff
    representatives Barber and Nelson, and Student representative
    Sebastian.  Also present were Associate Athletic Director
    Turpin, Coach Garus, and Student athlete Sagapolu.
2.  The committee was unable to concur on a regular meeting time,
    so Shub will work on that issue.
3.  Shub solicited e-mailed agenda topics to consider during the
    year.
4.  Since Athletic Director Cubero was unable to attend,
    Associate Director Turpin appeared on his behalf and
    described the procedures by which Ms. Sagapolu's eligibility
    appeal came to Cubero and was approved by him for forwarding
    to the committee.  The committee heard from coach Garus and
    then Ms. Sagapolu.  The committee then asked questions of Ms.
    Sagapolu.

    The committee went into executive session to consider the
    appeal.  The committee reported out of executive session that
    a motion by Nelson and seconded by Byerly to recommend
    granting the appeal was passed on a vote of 7 in favor, none
    opposed and no abstentions.
5.  Shub received permission to distribute minutes by e-mail
    only.
6.  At 2:45 PM a motion by Daly seconded by Sebastian to adjourn
    passed on voice vote without dissent.
