Dear Colleagues:

Three of our intercollegiate athletic teams anticipate participating in postseason competitions that have been scheduled by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and the NCAA during our finals period for the spring semester.  The RMAC outdoor track and field championships to be held in Alamosa will run through Tuesday, May 8, the first day of finals.  The NCAA regional softball tournament is scheduled for Thursday, May 10 through Sunday, May 13. Depending on the location of the tournament, students may also need to miss classes on May 9 and May 14 for travel purposes.   Finally, the golf team may be in the NCAA regional tournament in Denver on May 7 through May 9.  We want to encourage you to work with these athletes to schedule alternative final exams if necessary.  We will work with the Dean of Students to facilitate administering alternative final exams.  The specific dates will also be provided in the usual letter from the athletics department outlining the anticipated absence dates for each athlete.

The teams and students involved are not responsible for this unfortunate scheduling conflict, so we hope that you make every effort to support the students’ desire to excel academically and represent UCCS athletically.

Regards
