this is the process by which campus eligibility waivers are ajudicated 1. Responsible parties determine which student athletes are NCAA eligible but campus ineligible. a) student athletes are responsible for monitoring their academic progress and should be aware of their status b) athletics department follows its normal process to determine continuing eligibility c) FAR may assist by 1) requesting athletic grade report from admissions and records (normally done a week before classes end) 2) receiving athletic grade report from admissions and records (normally about a week after grades are due) 3) identifying which student athletes are affected 4) informing (by e-mail) the AD and compliance coordinator which students are affected. 2. Coaches, in consultation with AD, decide which student athletes will pursue waivers. a) timeline: two weeks before classes start b) AD informs FAR c) FAR issues meeting call d) FAR reserves room 3. student athletes complete waiver request and turn in to FAR a) timeline: no later than 5:00 two days before the meeting b) form location: on the web at http://www.cs.uccs.edu/~cdash/iaac/policies/appeal.html i) visit the UCCS athletics web site ii) select IAAC on the left navigation bar. This takes one to the IAAC page iii) select Eligibility Waiver Request Form 4. Responsible party prepares information packet a) Packet to include waiver form, appeal history, and academic record b) 6 copies brought to appeal meeting c) Currently FAR does this d) timeline: before meeting 5. Hearing is held a) timeline: Normally held the friday before classes begin but may be held on thursday to facilitate travel to out of town competitions 6. Results are reported a) timeline: day of meeting b) form: meeting minutes 7. Necessary Approvals are secured a) vcaa approval needed for fall waivers b) timeline ASAP c) FAR prepares approval letter d) FAR meets with VCAA to secure signature 8. Paperwork is filed a) 1 copy in student athlete folder b) one copy in FAR file
