Game Design and Development (GDD) Program Proposals
The Game Design and Development (GDD) Program Committee is currently working a proposal for a new Bachelor of Science degree in Game Design and Development at UCCS through the approval process. This web page provides access to that proposal. The planned start for the degree program is Fall 2007.
Program Proposal
The degree program described in the proposal was unanimously approved by EAS on April 20, 2006. This program would provide all students in the program with core GDD knowledge based on a set of core courses, while also giving them the flexibility to pursue their personal interests in this field through selection of concentration courses. The program is an interdisciplinary program that will be administered by the Computer Science Department. The full program proposal for this degree program can be found here.
BA or BS Degree
The GDD Program Committee originally envisioned a BA or BS degree program jointly administered by EAS and LAS. However, the LAS faculty voted against this jointly-administered degree on May 5, 2006. While we of course expect the BS degree being proposed to be successful on its own, our long-term strategy will be to continue trying to convince LAS of the benefits of a jointly-administered BA/BS degree.
VCAA Academic Planning Committee
The VCAA Academic Planning Committee meeting to discuss this program proposal is schedule for May 16, 2006. This web site is designed to give that committee access to the proposal so they can have sufficient review time prior to that meeting.
