1) Eligibility for the awards will be based on purely academic merit and/or achievements in sports combined with financial need. The applicant for the academic awards will need to score over 70% in the last two annual examinations and the applicants for the sports awards should have received at least two honors in interschool tournaments or higher forums of games.
2) Eligible applicants with parental income of less than Rs. 3500/- per month will receive preference.
3) Applicants will need to submit copies of the last two annual marksheets and a financial statement from parents on their annual income. Alternately, the applicant can simply send one letter of application quoting the scores of the the last two annual examinations and the annual income of their parents, if the scores and the income are authenticated by the headmaster of the school under his/her official seal.
4) Only documents attested by the Headmaster of the school under his/her seal will be entertained. The Headmasters of the schools may also recommend two students from his/her school describing their academic and financial backgrounds.
5) Presently, only the students between the 5th and the 12th grades are eligible.
Headmasters of the High Schools in Assam are encouraged to recommend names of two students from their schools for these awards by sending a recommendation letter quoting the student's scores for the last two annual examinations and financial status of their parents.

Applicants are requested to mail their applications for 1994 SHARP scholarships to the above address latest by May 31, 1995. Selection for the awards will be finalized in June, 1995 and announced in the Assam Day convention of 1995 and subsequently through the news media in Assam. All recipients of the awards will individually be notified through mail. SAHRP scholarships form a part of the 'care-for-Assam' agenda of Assam Society of America (Asom Sangho) which is undertaking many projects geared towards providing direct and indirect aid to the people of Assam.
